Scene:  Patrick and Leslie’s office…..

(Patrick and Leslie are watching the local news)

Aristea Brady:  Fox 31 News.  I’m Aristea Brady.  Our top story.  Adam Carrington, former heir to the Denver-Carrington and Colbyco fortunes has been released from Cheney Hospital.  If you remember, Carrington survived a savage beating at the hands of members of  North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s hit squad when a deal to sell U.S. military secrets to North Korea went horribly wrong.  However, Carrington will be remanded to the Denver County Jail as he faces charges of Treason, Corruption, Attempted Murder, and International Terrorism.  Mr. Carrington faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Patrick (turns the TV off):  Terrific!

Leslie:  At least he’s being remanded to the jail and he won’t be a threat to anybody.

 

(meanwhile in Steven’s office)

Steven:  My shares in LEXCORP are what???   Well…..thank you.

Fallon (comes into Steven’s office):  Steven did you just get a call from our broker?

Steven:  Yeah I did.  It seems that my shares of LEXCORP, that holding company that Mother set up to protect her non-Colbyco holdings like the Denver Mirror and the Carlton Hotel, are gone.

Fallon:  Mine too.  So are Amanda’s.

Steven:  I really want to get to the bottom of this.

Fallon:  Maybe Patrick can use his friend McCormick to find something out.

Steven:  That’s a good idea Fallon.  We’ll ask him today.

 

(a few minutes later outside Patrick and Leslie’s office)

 

Jesse Atkinson, Jr. (starts flirting with Miranda):  Hello…..and you are?  🙂

Miranda:  My name’s Miranda.  Miranda Gonzales.

Jesse:  I’m Jesse.  Jesse Atkinson, Jr.  I’m here to see Patrick and Leslie Jennings.

Miranda:  I’ll tell them you’re here.  It’ll just be a minute.  Patrick.  Leslie.  There’s a Mr. Jesse Atkinson, Jr. here to see you.

Leslie:  Thank you, Miranda.  Send him in.

Patrick:  Atkinson.  Wasn’t that the name of the woman who served as a surrogate for Adam and Dana and then chickened out?

Leslie:  Yeah.  And the son was kidnapped by Sean Rowan and I ended up rescuing him.  No.  It couldn’t be.

Jesse:  Mr. and Mrs.  Jennings?

Patrick:  Excuse me???

Jesse:  Mr. and Mrs.  Jennings.  I’m Jesse Atkinson, Jr.

Patrick:  OK, Sonny.  Let’s get something straight RIGHT OFF THE BAT.  There is no MISTER Jennings here!  I am VICE Admiral Patrick Carrington Jennings, United States Naval Reserve.  You just started off on the wrong foot, boy.

Jesse:  Sorry, Admiral.  Jesse Atkinson, Jr. is my legal name, but My father is really Adam Carrington.

Leslie:  Oh my God!  It is true.

Patrick:  You’re telling us that you’re Adam Carrington’s son?  And you’re just now resurfacing after 31 years?

Jesse:  Here’s a picture of my mother. (shows his mother’s picture)

Patrick:  I don’t believe it.  I know who this is.

Leslie:  Who is she?

Patrick:  Her name was Kay Mallory at one point.  Karen must be her given first name.

Jesse:  That’s right, Admiral.  She was briefly married to a Navy Pilot named Glen Matthews and she caught him cheating on her with her alleged best friend Hillary Adams.

Patrick:  As in the daughter of Harlan Adams the defense contractor?

Jesse:  Right.  Anyway.  She and Glen got divorced and she ran away to Denver where she met a trucker named Jesse Atkinson.

Patrick:  I knew who her father was.

Leslie:  You do?

Patrick:  Yeah.  His name was Admiral Thomas Mallory.  He was the Commanding Officer of the Emerald Point Naval Air Station in Florida.  He ended up becoming Chief of Naval Aviation. He died about twelve years ago.

Leslie:  Did you ever meet him?

Patrick:  A few times.

Jesse (shows Admiral Mallory’s picture):  This is a picture of him.

Patrick:  So what can we do for you, Jesse?

Jesse:  I am here because I heard that Adam Carrington is probably going to prison and I am interested in purchasing his shares of Denver-Carrington.

Leslie:  You’re what???

Jesse:  I’d like to buy my father’s stock in Denver-Carrington.

Patrick:  I’m sorry Jesse, but you can’t buy what doesn’t exist.

Jesse:  What do you mean???

Leslie:  Adam Carrington had to forfeit his shares of Denver-Carrington about fourteen years ago.

Jesse:  But why???

Patrick:  Because Adam Carrington tried to make a deal with Libya, which at the time was considered to be an embargoed nation, behind Blake’s back.  If Jeff Colby and myself hadn’t intervened, Denver-Carrington would have been heavily fined and the U.S. Government might have shut us down.  As a result, Adam was cut out of Blake’s will and was later stripped of his shares.

Leslie:  Adam’s shares were redistributed and Denver-Carrington was privatized about six months ago.

Jesse: So you’re telling me…..

Patrick:  That Denver-Carrington is no longer a publicly traded company.  Miranda could you get me Jason Fallmont and while you’re at it, can you have Jeff Colby come up here?

Miranda:  Yes, Patrick.

Jason:  What’s going on, Boss?

Patrick:  I need you to get your butt up here with a copy of the most recent revisions to Blake’s Will, a copy of the document verifying forfeiture of Adam’s shares of Denver-Carrington, AND a copy of the Articles of Privatization.

Jason:  I can just email them to you.

Patrick:  Even better, BUT you get your BUTT up here.

Jason:  Be right up, Boss.

Jeff:  I got up here as fast as I could, Patrick.  What’s going on?

Jesse:  You must be Jeff Colby.

Jeff:  That’s right.  Who are you?

Jesse:  My name’s Jesse Atkinson, Jr.

Jeff:  Atkinson?  Wasn’t that the last name of the woman Adam and Dana Waring used as their surrogate?

Jesse:  That’s right.  Karen Atkinson is my mother.

Jeff:  So you’re Adam’s son and you’re just now reappearing after thirty one years??

Jason:  I’m here, boss.  Did you get those emails yet?

Patrick (at his desk looking at his laptop):  They just came in.  Come on over here, Jesse.  You can look for yourself if you wish.

Jesse (looking over the documents):  I don’t believe this.  So you’re telling me that…..

Patrick:…..by your father pulling all the underhanded crap he’s pulled over the years, he’s basically screwed you out of your inheritance.

 

Jesse (leaves in a foul mood):  Well…..if I can’t get in through Denver-Carrington,  I’ll have to see about Colbyco or LEXCORP…..(dials his cellphone)…..Hello?…..Yes…..Damn Denver-Carrington took the necessary precautions…..See if you can find out how much Colbyco or LEXCORP stock is available…..Yes…..I’ll looks forward to hearing from you tomorrow.  Bye.

 

(a few minutes later)

 

Miranda:  Patrick.  Leslie.  Steven and Fallon are here to see you.

Leslie:  Thanks, Miranda.  Send them in.

Fallon: Hey, Baby Brother we need your help.

Patrick:  What’s wrong?

Steven:  We each thought we had a 10% stake in LEXCORP.

Patrick:  LEXCORP.  You mean that holding company your mother set up after she dissolved LEX-DEX to protect her non-Colbyco holdings?

Steven:  That’s the one.  Our shares seem to have vanished right along with Amanda’s.

Fallon:  Can you get a hold of your friend McCormick and see what  you can find out?

Patrick:  Sure…..(dials his cellphone)…..Hello…..Ed?

Ed:  Pat.  What’s going on?

Patrick:  Ed.  I need you to do a snoop job for me.  I want you to find what you can about a company called LEXCORP and any transactions that might have been made recently.

Ed McCormick:  I sure will, Pat and I’ll have an answer for you first thing tomorrow morning.

Patrick:  Thanks a lot, Ed.  Look forward to hearing from you.  Bye.

Steven:  Thanks, Patrick.

Fallon (kisses Patrick on the cheek):  Thanks, Baby Brother.  You’re the best.  🙂
