Heading for a Fall

Scene:  Ryland Transportation Headquarters – Dallas, Texas…..

Harris (on his cellphone):  What are you tellin’ me, Captain???

Presidium Captain:  I’m sorry, Mr. Ryland, but the oil will not be getting to its destination.

Harris:  Where are you calling from?

Presidium Captain:  I’m in Valdez, Alaska most of the crew has already been moved to Anchorage.

Harris:  Where’s the oil???

Presidium Captain:  They won’t tell me where it is.

Harris:  Who won’t?

Presidium Captain:  The Feds.

Harris:  What about the ship?

Presidium Captain:  I don’t know.  I just know it’s heavily guarded right now.

Harris:  Tell me what happened.

Presidium Captain:  We were three days out of Portland and we were stopped by the Navy and the Coast Guard.

Harris:  SO YOU JUST SURRENDERED???  (signs off his phone)  DAMN ALEXIS COLBY!!!!!JENNINGS!!!!!  JENNINGS MUST HAVE GOTTEN TO HER!!!!!  (dials his cellphone)  Cliff…..it’s Harris.

 

Cliff:  Harris.  What’s going on?

Harris:  The oil won’t be getting to our customer.

Cliff:  What happened???

Harris:  The Presidium was stopped in the Gulf of Alaska by the US Navy.  The ship was seized and the oil is now property of United States Government.

Cliff:  It’s those damn Ewings and those damn Carringtons and that damn Patrick Jennings!!!

Harris:  All I know is I’m goin’ to Denver.  I need to pay Alexis Colby a little visit.  I think Jennings got to her somehow.  It’s also because of her that my mother is dead.

 

(meanwhile at Denver-Carrington Center)

Miranda:  Patrick.  Leslie:  Alexis is here to see you.

Alexis (starting to barge right in):  I’m here to see Patrick and Patrick alone.  Leslie you’re going to have to leave.

Patrick:  Nothing doing Alexis.  You either see both of us or nobody at all.  Now what do you want?  This wouldn’t be about your little deal with North Korea, would it?

Leslie:  Or about the fact that Colbyco punted a bunch of defense contracts and now owes the U.S. Government $46 Million?

Alexis (to Leslie):  How did you know about that?

Leslie:  Alexis, I do have a Top Secret Clearance as does most everybody that works at Denver-Carrington.

Alexis:  Well…..if you must know.  I pulled out of that deal with North Korea.  Even though Mr. Barnes, Mr. Ryland and Mr. Wendell made it sound very irresistible, it didn’t feel right.

Patrick:  You did the right thing by pulling out, but by getting mixed up with them in the first place.  That’s where you screwed up.

Alexis:  Please. You’ve got to help me.  I think Ryland’s coming after me.  He blames me for his mother’s death when you’re the one that killed her.

Leslie:  Help you???  After all the sneaky underhanded crap you’ve pulled on us over the years???  You know,Alexis it’s not a big secret that I’m the one that killed her.

Alexis:  Yes, but if your Swab Jockey husband hadn’t led that commando mission, Ryland’s mother might still be alive.

Patrick:  Yeah and her drugs would be flowing freely throughout the Middle East and ISIS would have gotten their high tech weapons and the new government in Libya would cease to exist.  We can sit here and play the Blame Game all you want, but the fact remains.  You got mixed up with the Rylands in the first place.  And as far as Harris Ryland’s mother being dead is concerned, he should be the happiest man on Earth.  She was nothing but a meddlesome, domineering battleaxe.

Leslie:  Alexis do you EVER look beyond the dollar signs when you chose who you do business with?

Alexis:  What are you talking about?

Patrick: What we’re talking about is that we do.  That’s the difference between Denver-Carrington and Colbyco.  We’re patriots here at Denver-Carrington, whereas at Colbyco, you do business with dictators and terrorists.

Leslie:  And we don’t spend money trying to topple U.S.-backed governments.  Can you say Moldavia?

Alexis:  How dare you?

Patrick:  Come on, Alexis.  You think I don’t know that the Ahmeds used Colbyco money to run weapons for Saddam Hussein during the Gulf War?

Leslie:  Or that one of the people that facilitated that deal was your pal Jeremy Van Dorn?

Alexis:  I had nothing to do with how they spent my money.

Patrick:  Doesn’t matter.  The fact that it happened is irrefutable.

Alexis (to Patrick):  You and that bitch you’re married to usurped my son’s position at Denver-Carrington.

Patrick:  We didn’t usurp anything and you bloody well know it!  Adam fell victim to his own greed and his own lust for power.

Leslie:  In THAT respect, he is definitely YOUR son.

Patrick:  So, if you want to continue to play the Blame Game. I’d start off by looking in the mirror and then looking at your cretin son.  As far as Ryland coming after you goes, he’d be a moron if he tried to actually do anything to you.  Don’t worry.  Ryland and Barnes and Wendell are going to be pretty much screwed when the U.S. Government gets through with them.

Leslie:  That goes for your friend Claudia Waite and her son as well.

Patrick:  Oh.  And we’re going to want to talk to you some more about the J.R. Tapes.  I believe our business here is concluded…..for now…..you can see yourself out.

 

(meanwhile at Cheney Hospital)

Lauren (comes to visit Terry and the new babies):  And how is my ace reporter?  🙂

Terry:  I’m doing fine, Lauren.  Thanks.  And don’t worry.  I may not be able to come into the office, but I can still work on the Chronicle digital edition from home.

Lauren:  They are so beautiful.  Please try not to do too much at once.  What did Brianne say?

Terry:  She said everything is going great and that we could all go home tomorrow.

Lauren:  What about the new dog and the new cat?

Terry:  Brianne said that we should encourage the pets to interact with the babies as much as possible, but that, at first, someone else should be present.  Remember…..boss…..you have to go through this too in about six weeks.  🙂  What are we going to do when both you and I are maternity leave at the same time?

Lauren:  I guess we can have Rosalind Parkhurst babysit the paper for a couple of weeks.  I’m glad Patrick, II was able to make it back.  Listen you guys get some rest and we’ll see you at the house tomorrow.

Billy Waite, Jr (on his cellphone):  Harris.  Tell me what happened.

Harris:  There’s really not much to tell. Billy.  The Presidium was stopped in the Gulf of Alaska by the United States Navy and the oil and the ship itself were seized by the United States Government.

Billy:  So.  One million barrels of WestStar oil are now property of the United States Government???

Harris:  I’m afraid so and our customers won’t be getting their oil either.

Billy:  No, but we will still be able to collect on the insurance.

Harris:  How?  We were supposed to be dealing with an embargoed country.

Billy:  Yes, but i have a friend in the insurance business in Venezuela who helped me prepare for this type of emergency.  In the meantime, I have to explain to my mother about what happened.

Harris: If that damned Alexis Colby hadn’t pulled out, we wouldn’t have had the delay and the oil would still be on its way to our customer.

Billy:  Has anybody told our customer what happened?

Harris:  No, but I guess I will.

Billy:  I blame you for this.  You handled the logistics end of it.

Harris:  Billy.  We can’t go pointin’ fingers at each other.  When our customers find out what happened, they’re gonna come lookin’ for somebody.

Billy:  We need to be prepared.

Harris:  Damn Alexis Colby!!!

Meagan O’Halloran:  Born at 11:04 PM last night, the twins are the first Great Grandchildren of Krystle Carrington Dexter, the widow of Blake Carrington, the late founder of Denver-Carrington.  Both mother and babies were said to be doing fine.

Alexis:  So…..Krystle…..is tarnishing Blake’s legacy with more of her Jennings bastards…..(throws a glass of wine against the wall)…..DAMN BLONDE TRAMP!!!!
