Scene: In the air between Rio de Janeiro and Natal…..

(Jeff is at the controls. On board are: Patrick, Leslie, Patrick, II, Dex, Nick, Dominique, Milton, Sandra, Bobby, Sue Ellen, Catlin, John Ross, Christopher, Joao and Renaldo)

Patrick (on his cellphone): Yeah, Jason. What’s going on?

Jason: Hey, Boss. Everything’s going well here. I have a meeting with the Silva-Costa lawyers in about half an hour.
Patrick: How’s my daughter?
Jason: Well…..Emily’s just got back from meeting with all the publicists for the fight. Now…..she’s in the bathroom puking.
Jeff: We are beginning our descent into Natal. Everybody buckle up.

Dominique: Patrick. Do you have a minute?
Patrick: Yeah, Dominique. What is it?
Dominique: I wanted to thank you for everything you did for my company.
Patrick: I didn’t do it all by myself. Nick and Milton were VERY instrumental in everything that happened.
Dominique: I especially liked the compromise plan on the shares that you and Milton worked out so that Brady wouldn’t be able to take over my company.
Sandra: With all the legal trouble Brady is in, the SEC probably wouldn’t have approved his takeover anyway.
Leslie: But we still felt we had to come up with a contingency plan just in case.
Dominique: And I’m glad everything went well with that deal in Indiana.
Milton: Thanks, Mom.
Geraldo Silva (approaches on the tarmac): Bom dia!

Joao (hugs his father): Papa! I’d like to present our partners in this deal Patrick Jennings, his wife Leslie, his son Patrick, II, Dex Dexter, Jeff Colby, Nick Kimball, Dominique Deveraux Kimball…..
Geraldo: Oh yes. Dominique Deveraux. I saw you perform in the Carioca Lounge in the Copacabana. You were magnificent.
Dominique: Obrigado, Senhor Silva.
Geraldo: Geraldo, please.
Renaldo: If we may continue. Milton Cox, his wife Sandra, Bobby Ewing, Sue Ellen Ewing, Catlin Ewing, John Ross Ewing, III and Christopher Ewing.
Geraldo: Ah. Ci. Senhor Ewing. We have been expecting you. I am here to take you to a site we have been exploring in the Amazon Basin. It is in the same general vicinity as a site we were exploring right before your father’s death.
Bobby: Of course. Geraldo do you have the seismics for that area?
Leslie: I’ve got them, Bobby. Joao emailed them to us about a week ago. (hands Bobby the seismics) Here they are.
Christopher: Thanks, Leslie.
Geraldo: Senhor Ewing.
Bobby: Bobby, please.
Geraldo: Bobby. If it is too painful a memory for you, we can always find another site to drill.
Bobby: No. This is work my daddy started. I want to honor his memory and finish what he started.
(Christopher puts his arm around his father’s shoulder)
Geraldo: John Ross Ewing, III. You are J.R.’s boy.
John Ross: That’s right.
Geraldo: Your father was very well respected down here. Come Ewings. Our helicopter is waiting.

Sue Ellen: Is it near where Jock’s helicopter went down?
Geraldo: As I said, it is the same general area. Unfortunately, the exact area we were exploring with Jock and Punk Anderson was found to be dry.
Bobby (looks at his friend): Well, Patrick. Wish us luck.
Patrick: Good luck, Bob. Brother-in-Law. You be careful out there.
John Ross: We’ll be fine.
Patrick: Christopher, Sue Ellen, Catlin. You be careful out there too
Catlin: We will, Pat. Thanks.
Dex: Take care out there, Catlin.
Catlin: Thanks, Dex.
(Patrick, Leslie, and Patrick, II cross themselves as they watch the Ewings’ helicopter take off)
(an hour later in Natal)

Senator Garibaldi Alves: Please Come in. Joao. Renaldo. It is wonderful to see you again. I see you have brought Dominique Deveraux. Bem-vindo, Dear Lady. I saw you perform at the Ponta Negra. You were wonderful.

Dominique: Thank you, Senator. I’ve always thought Natal was a wonderful city.
Leslie: Senator. I want to thank you for the government’s approval of our deal, ESPECIALLY the Ewing methane rig and the Natal-Porto Velho Natural Gas Pipeline. Obrigado.
Senator Alves: De nada, Senhora Jennings. I understand you are here to conduct some tests for our navy.
Patrick, II; That’s right, Senator Alves. We’ve a developed a new computer guidance system and we hope to implement it in your surface fleet.
Senator Alves: Has this system of yours been tested on a surface ship?
Patrick, II: It has. As a matter of fact, we tested on the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77).
Senator Alves: I have always been an advocate of a strong military.
Patrick: I know your navy is the second largest in the Americas after ours, which is why I think it was a smart move to acquire the HMS Ocean from the Royal Navy. I know you were having many problems with the Sao Paolo.
Senator Alves: It was becoming too costly to maintain with all the repairs.
Leslie: So, in the long run, acquiring the HMS Ocean from the Royal Navy is a lot cheaper.
Senator Alves: That is correct, Senhora Jennings.
Leslie: Leslie, please.
Patrick: You renamed the HMS Ocean the Atlántico did you not?
Senator: Correct, Almirante Jennings. She has just completed her sea trials.
Patrick: Patrick, please. I’m just glad she isn’t a nuke. Otherwise, Jessica Reckell would be going ballistic right about now.
Senator Alves: Jessica Reckell has been a….how do you say….thorn in our side…..for a long time. She tried to lock me in my office so that I wouldn’t be able to make it to the Senate Chambers for a vote on the New Energy Funding Bill.
Patrick: That’s kind of juvenile, don’t you think?
Senator Alves: We are also building faster and more modern ship in partnership with Alvarezco of Barcelona, Spain.
Patrick: Yeah I know. We are partners in that venture as well. As a matter of fact, I am happy to announce that the keel has been laid on the first ship.
Leslie: I actually met with Consuela Alvarez this past May in Italy.
Jeff: Her mother Athena is still Chairwoman of the Board.
Senator Alves: She used to be Athena Powers did she not?
Jeff: That’s right.
Senator Alves: And her brother was Zack Powers, correct.
Dominque: Unfortunately, yes. That’s correct.
Senator Alves: Meu Deus! Zack Powers, along with Alexis Colby and Billy Waite, Sr.,, helped the Collor government to almost bleed our economy white.
Dominque: Why am I not surprised?
Sandra: This is why Colbyco can’t penetrate this market.
Senator Alves: Correct, Senhora Cox. I would like to talk about the pipeline. Who is building it?
Dex: That would be my company, Senator. Colby/Dexter International. We expect to have the pipeline completed in two years.
Nick: We’ve already begun construction on some offshore rigs and we hope to be pumping during the first half of next year.

Patrick: We’ve even explored and mapped the pipeline route at the western end along the Rio Roosevelt.
Dex: There’s no real impact on the environment either.
Senator Alves: Your environmental impact study was a big help to me and the gentleman that wrote it…..
Leslie: Bart Fallmont.
Senator Alves: Did an excellent job.
Joao: We wanted to talk to you about the refinery here in Natal.
Senator Alves: You are planning to expand?
Renaldo: Yes. To 100,000 barrels a day capacity. We are partnered in the building project with Carrington Construction of Denver.
Senator Alves: This all sounds excellent. I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship between our government and your companies.
(meanwhile in the Amazon River Basin)

Bobby: This is impressive, Geraldo.
John Ross: How much of a yield are we talkin’ about?
Geraldo: We estimate a yield of 200,000 barrels a day.
Catlin: How far down are we gonna have to go?
Geraldo: According to the seismics we did and owing to the fact that some of the accessible oil is located in a tidal marsh, we are estimating that we will only have to drill 1000 feet down.
Christopher: And this oil will be moved to Natal to be refined?
Geraldo: That is correct, Senhor Ewing.
Sue Ellen: From what I’ve gathered, the Natal refinery is being expanded to handle 100,000 barrels a day capacity.
Geraldo: That is correct, Sue Ellen.
Bobby: When can we expect to begin drilling?
Geraldo: I see no reason that we can’t start drilling next year. In the meantime, our helicopter is waiting to take us back to Natal.
(meanwhile at Parque de Cidade)

Patrick: I want to thank all of you for coming. It is with great pride and pleasure that I dedicate this memorial to the Brazilian Expeditionary Force. Brazil was the only South American Country to send troops to fight in World War II. The BEF served mainly in the Italian Theater between 1944 and 1945. We remember the sacrifice of the 948 men who gave their lives and gallantry of the BEF at the Battle of Monte Castello. It should also be noted that the BEF took over 20,000 Axis prisoners, including two Generals. Obrigado, Natal!
(the crowd applauds)
