Scene:  Patrick and Leslie’s office – Denver-Carrington Center…..

Patrick (is the office with Leslie, John Ross and Krystina):  Boy!  That was some trip.

Leslie:  It sure was.

John Ross:  I gotta hand it to you, Brother-in-Law. I think this one’s gonna be a real money maker.

Krystina:  Now I hear that once that methane rig starts producing, Christopher is going to bid with the State of Sao Paolo for a fuel contract.

Leslie:  Which is not a bad idea considering how polluted Sao Paolo is.

John Ross:  Oh that’s right.  You guys were there.

Patrick:  Yeah.  We saw it first hand.

John Ross:  I’m glad for my cousin.  I really am.

Patrick:  Come on now.  All that oil you found in the Amazon.  Once you get it out of the ground, that’s going to be fuel for the Brazilian Navy.  I know oil is here now, but once it starts running out, then what?

Krystina:  Big Brother’s right.  We need to continue to explore alternate energy sources just in case.

John Ross:  I know you guys are right, but I also know how my daddy felt about oil.

Leslie:  How would J.R. feel if he looked down from Heaven and saw the world’s oil supply gone?

John Ross: Y’all got a point.

Patrick:  Besides.  We’re still looking for oil in a lot of places too.

Miranda:  Welcome back, guys.  Ray Carrington’s here to see you.

Leslie:  Thanks, Miranda.  Send him in.

Patrick:  Miranda.  Thanks for helping L.B. hold down the fort last week.  Other than that one little barging in problem with Alexis, there weren’t any problems, were there?

Miranda:  Not a one.

John Ross:  Ray Carrington the conservative talk show host is coming up here?

Patrick:  Yep.

Ray:  Pat.  Leslie.  How’s it going?  How was Brazil?  I read in Terry’s article that it was the Deal of the Century for Denver-Carrington.  Wait a minute.  I thought she wasn’t coming into the office for a couple of months.

Leslie:  She still writes from home.

Ray:  It’s good to see you, Step Brother and Cousin.

John Ross:  Step Brother?

Krystina:  Cousin?

Patrick:  I’m actually glad you’re here now, Sissy.  Ray is your Half Brother just like I am.

Krystina:  What???

Leslie:  Your father had a relationship with a woman named Oliva McDonough.

Patrick:  It was after Alexis and before Mom.

Leslie:  In 1972, that relationship produced a son.  Ray.  Olivia never told Blake about Ray and she raised him by herself.

Patrick:  After Ray graduated from college, he went to work for Front Range Broadcasting and worked his way up to the point where he was able to buy the company.

Leslie:  Olivia died of Cervical Cancer about two years before Blake, so she took her secret to the grave.

Ray:  So, Krystina Carrington.  You’re my sister.

Krystina:  I guess so, but it’s Krystina Carrington Ewing now.

John Ross:  Another guy I can call “Brother-in-Law”.  🙂

Krystina (hugs her new brother):  Welcome to the family, Ray.

Ray:  So…..John Ross Ewing, III.  I’ve actually met your daddy and your Uncle Bobby.  Had them on the show a few times.

John Ross:  You got a real good show.  I listen to the Ray Carrington Show a lot.  Matter of fact, I listened to it on the way in this morning.

Ray:  Thanks.  I’m glad you like it.

Patrick:  Ray what was it you came up here to see us about?

Krystina:  Wait.  So, Ray.  Your wife is Sarah Owens the supermodel?

Ray:  Which makes her your sister-in-law.  🙂  Oh, guys.  I came up here to tell you that Front Range Broadcasting is moving their offices and their newsroom to Denver-Carrington Center.  I will also be moving the studio for my show here.

Leslie:  So you’ll be doing the Ray Carrington Show from Denver-Carrington Center?

Ray:  Yeah.  Starting next week.  That reminds me I was wanting to talk to Fallon about the office space.

Patrick:  Not a problem.  Miranda can you have Fallon come up here?  Oh and have Emily come up here too.

Miranda:  Yes, Patrick.

Emily:  Dad I was going to come up anyway.  I have the proofs of the PR piece that Rosalind and I working on for the Brazilian deal.  (hands the storyboards to her parents)

Leslie:  These are great, Em.

Patrick:  I love them.  Oh, Em.  I was wondering how that hiring veterans campaign is going.

Emily:  I was just going to talk to you about that.  Once we get everything set in stone for the veterans’ job fair, I want to go with something like this.

We just change the location to Colorado and the University of Denver and we put in the new date when we get one.  I’m shooting for First week in October.  Then we have Veterans’ Day coming up and I want to go with something like this.

Patrick:  I love it.

Ray:  Listen, Emily.  I’ll tell you what.  When you get a firm date set, drop by my office, which will now be here in Denver-Carrington Center.  When I know what the date is, I’ll do a PSA on my show three times a week until the day of the event.  I’ll also have it run on the FOX 31 community calendar.

Emily:  That’s really nice, Ray.  Thank you.

Fallon:  So, Little Brother.  You wanted to talk to me about the lease arrangements for your new offices?

Ray:  Yes I did, Big Sister.

Fallon:  Tell you what.  I’ll have our legal team draw up a standard agreement and we’ll get everything finalized by close of business Friday.

Ray:  That sounds great, Fallon.

Fallon:  Come on up to my office later and we’ll talk.

Ray:  I have to go too, Pat.  Staff Meeting.

Emily:  Dad.  I need to get everything firmed up for the job fair.

 

(a few minutes later)

 

Miranda:  Guys.  There’s a Mister Miguel Santos here to see you.

Patrick:  Send him in.

Miguel Santos:  Almirante Jennings?  Senhora Jennings?

Patrick:  Yes.  What can we do for you?

Miguel Santos:  My name is Miguel Santos.  I am from Porto Velho, Brazil.  I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Universidade Federal de Rondônia.  My family told me about the speech you gave about the Brazilian Expeditionary Force in World War II and I want you to know that my grandfather was a part of it.  I have been in this country for ten years.  I have been working as a mechanic for Colbyco at one of their fields in Northern Colorado, but recently I was let go in favor of inferior personnel.  If you do not believe me,  I have my performance evaluation right here.

Patrick (looks at the evaluation himself and then shows it to Leslie):  Here it is in black and white.  He’s 100% on the level.

Leslie:  Do you mind if we ask who gave the order to let you go?

Miguel Santos:  Not at all.  It was Alexis Colby herself.

Leslie:  I see and what reasons did she give?

Miguel Santos:  She said I wasn’t performing up to their standards.

Krystina:  And when was it that you were dismissed?

Miguel Santos:  This past Friday

John Ross:  Wow!  This just gets better and better.

Leslie:  How much notice were you given?

Miguel Santos:  None.  She told me I had five minutes to pack my belongings and get out.

Patrick:  That’s Alexis’ style all right.  Tell you what, Miguel.  I know that Silva-Costa Enterprises is looking for a bright young executive to run their new office here in Denver.  How would you like that bright young executive to be you?

Miguel Santos:  Do you mean it, Almirante?

Patrick:  You just got yourself a new job.

Miguel Santos:  Obrigado, Almirante.

Patrick:  We’ll call Joao Silva and Renaldo Costa and we’ll tell them we found their man to run their Denver Office.

Miguel Santos:  Oh,  Almirante.  My being let go is not the worst part.

Patrick:  What is?

Miguel Santos:  I am in this country legally, but I was let go in favor of illegal immigrants.

Patrick:  What???

John Ross:  Damn!

Leslie:  Colbyco’s been hiring illegals?

Krystina:  How do you like that?

Patrick:  We’ve got a meeting to go to first thing tomorrow morning.

Leslie:  Where?

Patrick: Colbyco.

 

(meanwhile at the Denver County Jail)

Adam (reads the headline in the Denver Chronicle – DEAL OF THE CENTURY FOR DENVER-CARRINGTON): DAMN IT!  I DON’T BELIEVE IT!  THAT CARRINGTON PRETENDER HAS DONE IT AGAIN!  (he then starts shaking violently on the bars of his  and screaming at the top of his lungs)  HELP!!!!!  LET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!!  I WANT OUT!!!!!

Deputy (enters Adam’s cell):   What are you screaming about, Carrington?  Keep quiet.

Adam:  You’ve got to get me out of here.  NOW!

Deputy:  You’ll get out of here when your case goes to trial in Federal Court a couple of months from now.

Adam:  A couple of months???

Deputy:  I can’t help it.  They’re backlogged.

Adam (grabs the Deputy by his shirt and slams him up against the wall of his cell):  YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!!!  I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE!!!!!  NOW!!!!!

Deputy:  Oh that’s it, Carrington.  You’re going to get out of here now.  You just got yourself thirty days in the hole.  Then, we’ll figure out what to do with you.
