Scene: The Deveraux Group Offices – Denver-Carrington Center…..

Nelson Freeman (comes into the office and sees Bobbie Rivers): Hello. I’m looking for Dominique Deveraux.
Bobbie: Oh. I’m sorry. She’s in a meeting right now. Maybe I can be of some assistance.
Nelson: I’m Nelson. Nelson Freeman. I’m here to talk to talk to her about the vote on the takeover of Brady Lloyd’s company.
Bobbie: Oh. Nelson Freeman. I read about you in the Wall Street Journal in that article on the Mediterranean Oil leases. You won the bidding on some of them didn’t you? My name’s Bobbie Rivers, Sandra Cox’s daughter. I’m Dominique’s PR Director.

Nelson: The President of the Deveraux Group.
Bobbie: That’s right.
Nelson: With regard to those oil leases, yes. I did. I’m a partner of Cole Gioberti’s. Listen. If you’re not busy around Noon, would you care to join me for lunch?
Bobbie: Yes. I’d like that very much.
(meanwhile upstairs in Patrick and Leslie’s office)
Miranda: Patrick. Smitty on one.

Patrick: Thanks, Miranda. Put him through. Smitty talk to me. What’s going on?
Smitty: I’m telling you. It’s Brady Lloyd. I just talked to one of the guys at Denver County lockup and his stubborn ass just outright refuses to cop a plea on those Treason charges.
Patrick: I don’t get it. This is a bunch of bullshit.
Smitty: He seems to think that he can get a lawyer and beat the charge since it happened over fifty years ago.
Patrick: Come on, Smitty. Any lawyer worth his or her salt, knows that there is no statute of limitations on Treason. It’s explicitly stated in the Constitution.
Smitty: I have a law degree myself, Pat. I know that, but Lloyd just won’t budge. Isn’t there supposed to be a vote on the takeover of his company?
Patrick: Yeah. Last I heard, it was scheduled for sometime in January. But, you know that whether he cops a plea or decides to go to trial, he’ll remain free until the judge hands down sentencing. Either way, he’ll get a front row seat to watch his company self destruct.

Smitty: Oh. Got some more bad news for you. Billy Waite, Jr. and Harris Ryland are out of the hospital and back at work.
Patrick: Terrific!
Smitty: I talked to Bum Jones and he says they’re planning on coming to Denver and they’re gunning for you.
Patrick: Let ’em gun. I don’t really care. They come up here, we’ll nail ’em. Get with McCormick and see if he can track their movements.
Smitty: You got it, Pat.
( a little while later)
Miranda: Guys. Cole Gioberti of Gioberti Enterprises is here.
Leslie: Cole Gioberti? Really? Send him in, Miranda.

Miranda: Yes, Leslie.
Patrick: Cole Gioberti!! I’ll be damned!! We haven’t seen you since the bid conference.
Cole: Hello, Patrick. Hello, Leslie.
Leslie: It’s good to see you again, Cole.
Patrick: So what brings you to the Centennial State? It’s a good thing you came now because we have some crappy weather getting ready to move in.
Cole: Well…..part of the reason is that I want to get the construction cost estimates on those rigs in the Mediterranean Sea from Sebastian Colby. The other part is that I want to let you know that we want to schedule a vote on the takeover of Lloyd International for the 14th of January, 2019.

Patrick: Wow! Right after the Holidays.
Cole: I want to get this thing done during the first part of the year.
Leslie: What are you planning to do to the company? Are you looking to fold the assets into Gioberti Enterprises?
Patrick: Or are you looking to sell off the assets or break the company up into so many little pieces it’ll be impossible to find? That’s what happened to Standard Oil in 1911 and that’s what happened to AT&T in 1982.
Cole: So what about Brady Lloyd? Where do things stand with him?
Patrick: I just got off the phone with my contact Smitty at the FBI. Apparently, Lloyd is being a stubborn jackass and he will not budge on accepting a plea deal from the government. The longer he holds out, the more the price of his stock will plunge…..
Cole:…..And his holdings will end up becoming virtually worthless.
Miranda: Guys. Senhor Silva and Senhor Costa are here. Should I tell them to wait?
Patrick: No, Miranda. That’s fine. Send them in.
Miranda: Yes, Patrick.
Patrick: Joao. Renaldo. Please come in.
Joao: Patrick. Leslie. It’s good to see you again.

Renaldo: We came because we wanted to check on our new office and see how the man you recommended is doing.
Leslie: Joao. Renaldo.
Renaldo: Leslie.
Patrick: You gentlemen remember Cole Gioberti at all?
Joao: Ci. Senhor Gioberti. We haven’t seen you since the bid conference.
Leslie: Where are you wives?
Renaldo: They are at Sammy Jo’s doing a run through for tomorrow’s fashion show.
Patrick: That’s right. They’re modeling. Miranda. Can you have Miguel Santos come up here please?
Miranda: Yes, Patrick. Oh, Patrick. Brad Decker on one.
Patrick: Thanks, Miranda. I’ll put him on speaker. Brad. What’s happening over there? I happen to have Joao Silva, Renaldo Costa and Cole Gioberti in my office.
Brad: They’re some of the people that submitted winning bids in the Second Round, weren’t they?

Patrick: Yeah they were. Why? Wait just a minute. Before we go ANY further. Did Malcom Carrington make it out to the Arabian Sea?
Brad: He did. He’s meeting with the construction crews now. The first pipe from Rourke Industries arrived there Monday morning.
Patrick: That’s excellent news, Brad.
Miranda: Patrick. I hate to interrupt, but Miguel Santos is here.
Patrick: Oh Jeez! I forgot about that. Ummmmm…..just have him wait in the outer office for a few minutes.
Miranda: Yes, Patrick.
Patrick: OK. Brad. Again. Joao Silva, Renaldo Costa and Cole Gioberti are here in my office.
Brad: Good. ‘Cause I got some great news for them. We’ve begun drilling on some of their leases and, according to the preliminary seismics. they could hit real soon and hit big time. You guys made a real bonanza in the Med.
Patrick: Hey come on now. We got the one of the best drilling foremen in the biz. Give yourself a little credit. 🙂 Keep me posted on everything.
Brad: Will do, Pat. Bye.
Cole: Man! That is excellent news.
Joao: Obrigado, amigo. I knew we would make money with you.
Miguel: Almirante Jennings. Senhora Jennings. Meu Dios! Senhor Silva. Senhor Costa.

Joao: Senhor Santos. We are here to check on our new North American office.
Miguel: Senhor Silva. Senhor Santos. Right now I am working with the State of Colorado on a deal to purchase land for expansion of Jari Paper Products into the United States. We hope to have land purchased and a location selected early next year and we hope to begin construction in the Spring.
Renaldo: Excellent. Keep up the good work.
Joao: You were right to recommend him, Patrick. Obrigado.
Leslie: Miguel. You’ll want to get with my Cousin Fallon Colby. She’s the head of our Real Estate and Properties Division and then later on, you’ll want to get with Steven at Carrington Construction.
Miguel: Obrigado, Almirante. Senhora.
(meanwhile at Panzano’s Italian Restaurant – Downtown Denver)

Bobbie: So you’re Brady Lloyd’s son??
Nelson: That’s right. My mother was one of his acts. He got her pregnant and left her without a dime. That led to her becoming a prostitute, a heroin addict and then led to her death. We want to call a vote on the takeover of Lloyd Enterprises for January 14th. Right after the Holidays.
Bobbie: That’s a good idea. I’m afraid if you wait too much longer. the price of the stock will continue to fall and the shares could end up becoming worthless. What do you plan to do with the company anyway?
Nelson: We don’t know yet. We may end up breaking it up and selling off all the pieces.
Bobbie: I’m sure Dominque would be interested in his entertainment interests.
Nelson: Do you have any plans for dinner?
Bobbie: Careful. That could turn into Breakfast. 🙂
(later in Dominique’s office)
Dominique: Nelson. I heard you were here earlier. I just ran into your partner Cole Gioberti. I told him had something you wanted to discuss with me, but I wanted to wait until you got back.
Nelson: I’m sorry. I was just taking your charming PR Director to Lunch.

Dominique: So what was it you wanted to talk to me about?
Nelson: We want to schedule a vote on the takeover of Lloyd Enterprises International for the 14th of January.
Dominique: I think we can do that.
Nelson: Good. We can’t wait too much longer than that before Lloyd Enterprises stock becomes absolutely worthless.
(meanwhile at Hap Briggs’ house in North Dakota)

Sable (on her phone): Yes, Nigel. That’s right. I want you to find out how much WestStar stock is available for purchase. Thank you. Ciao. (hangs up her phone) Oh, Alexis. You’ve crossed me one too many times. Now we’ll see what happens when I force you out of the oil business completely. 🙂
