Bobby:  Sounds good.  So.  What do you recommend?

Patrick:  This is Gibraltar.  I recommend that those of you that haven’t. try the Snake Bite.

Christopher:  The what??

John Ross:  I’ve tried it cousin.  It’s pretty good.

Patrick:  It’s a favorite among the locals.  It’s lager, hard cider and a dash of black currant liquor.  Snake Bite’s all around?  (everybody nods their head)  OK.  Who’s going with me to the bar?

Leslie:  I’ll go with you.

John Ross:  Me too, Brother-in-Law.

Bartender (sees Patrick, Leslie and John Ross):  What can I can for you?

Patrick (points to a large table in the corner):  We’re at that large table over there.  Can we get 10 Snake Bites and Fish and Chips all around.

Bartender:  No problem.  I’ll have a server bring it over.

Patrick:  Thanks.  (sees Percy Havensworth’s picture on the TV)  Pardon me, but can you turn that up a little?

Bartender:  Not a problem, Mate.

BBC Reporter:  Mr. Havensworth was crossing the busy Denver intersection when the car struck him head on.  Witnesses described the car as a back Cadillac SUV, but the driver has yet to be identified as the car had already sped off.  Mr.  Havensworth was a graduate of Oxford University and had been a leader in London’s business community.  Recently, he had been a constant companion of embattled Colbyco Chairperson and CEO Alexis Colby.  Repeating our top story.  London financier Percy Havensworth dead at the age of 55.  BBC News Denver, Colorado, USA.

Patrick:  Holy Mackerel!!

John Ross:  I’ll be damned!!

Leslie:  God!  Alexis has to got be beside herself right about now.

(a few minutes later at the table)

Patrick:  Ced.  You remember Percy Havensworth?

Ced:  The London financier?  Why?

Leslie:  It just came over the BBC a little bit ago.  He’s dead.

Ced:  What?  How?

Patrick:  Apparently, he was crossing a crosswalk in Downtown Denver and he was struck by an on rushing car.

Dex:  Did the car leave the scene?

Patrick:  Yeah.  That’s what the report said.

Dex:  Then it was probably a professional hit.

Server:  Fish and Chips all around.   (places the Fish and Chips in front of each person)  Snake Bites.  (places the drinks in front of each person)

Bobby:  Jenna Wade was killed the same way a couple of months ago.

Patrick:  That’s right.

Miles: You don’t think the two are connected do you?

Patrick:  I think it’s entirely possible.

Christopher (reading the International Herald Tribune when a story catches his eye):  Hey, Cousin!  Take a look at this.  (hands John Ross the paper)

John Ross (takes the paper):  Alison Jones, former Dallas Transportation Head and State Senator to Seek 2020 G.O.P. U.S. Senate nomination.  I’ll be damned.

Bobby:  She was the one you were negotiating with for that fuel contract, right Son?

Christopher:  That’s right, Dad

Bobby:  I say we wait to see who else enters the field before we make a decision as who to back.  I’ve heard Lou Rosen is also considering running.

Patrick:  I’d back Lou Rosen in a heartbeat.  Anyway.  I’ll get with Ed McCormick and see what he can find out about Percy.

Leslie:  Sounds good.

Patrick (dials up his cellphone):  Ed. It’s Pat.

Ed:  Pat.  I’m glad you called.  I suppose you heard about Percy Havensworth.

Patrick:  Yeah.  I  did.  It just came over the BBC News here in Gibraltar a few minutes ago.

Ed:  I’m working with Denver P.D. and we’re trying to get a make on that car.

Patrick:  Listen, Ed.  Dex has a feeling it might have been a professional hit and so do I.  I’m wondering if this and the hit on Jenna Wade are somehow connected or was Percy just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Ed:  I think it’s a VERY real possibility.  I should have an answer for you as early as tomorrow morning.

Patrick:  Thank a lot, Ed.  Keep me posted.

Ed:  Will do, Pat.  Bye.

JamesRemar

Patrick:  In the meantime, (raises his glass) let’s raise our glasses to the success of our mission and the fact that Jeremy Wendell will finally get what’s coming to him.

Everybody else (raising their glasses in response):  Hear!  Hear!

(meanwhile at Alexis’ penthouse – Saturday morning – Downtown Denver)

Alexis (standing on her balcony staring off into space hears her elevator and sees Dirk Maurier getting off):  Well…well…well. Dirk Maurier.  What can I do for you?

Dirk:  Well, Alexis.  I heard about Percy Havensworth and I’m very sorry for your loss.  I know you were very close.  I also heard about the fact that the SEC disapproved your purchase of 10% of WestStar Oil and I am here to tell you that they already found a new buyer…..me.

Alexis:  I see.  You’re not here to goat are you, Mr. Maurier?

Dirk:  On the contrary, Alexis.  I’m here to make a business proposition.  I don’t know if you’re aware, but Morocco discovered large deposits of oil off their Atlantic coast.  I’ve arranged the financing to bid on some of the leases and I was wondering if your would consider coming in on the deal with me.

Alexis:  Well, Mr. Maurier.  I don’t know if you are aware.  I am on the Board of Directors of WestStar Oil.  I was named to the position by Claudia Waite a few months ago.  You do realize that not only does the sale need to be approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission, but it also needs to meet with the approval of WestStar’s Board of Directors and one of those directors is me.

Dirk:  Of course, Alexis.  I understand.  It’s a fantastic opportunity.  I think you’d be wise to at least consider it.  It could mean millions.  I’ve heard about what’s going on at Colbyco and might I suggest that you cut your losses there and consider focusing on your other company, LEXCORP.  Like I said.  This venture could mean millions, Alexis.  With this new oil venture and the holdings you already own as part of LEXCORP, it could vault you right back to the top.  There’s going to be a bid conference the Second Week in February in Rabat and I was wondering if you would like to attend.

Alexis:  It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, Mr. Maurier, but I’d like a few days to think it over.  You will have my answer by the end of the week.

Dirk:  It was a pleasure to see you again, Alexis.  Oh.  I never got the chance to properly thank you for “blowing the whistle” on my nephew Gavin.

Alexis:  Yes well…..Gavin did take a lot of people to the cleaners.  In fact, I was almost one of them.

Dirk:  My nephew did have a habit of lulling people into a false sense of security.  I look forward to hearing your answer about the bid conference.  I’ll see myself out.

(meanwhile at the Rock Hotel – Gibraltar – Patrick and Leslie’s suite)

Patrick (in bed with Leslie lying next to him hears his cellphone ringing):  Hello?

Ed:  Pat.  It’s Ed.

Patrick:  Ed.  What did you find out?

Ed:  First of all, the hit on Percy was a professional hit.  We also got a make on the car.  It was a 2019 Cadillac XT5.  It had California tags and it was registered to…..are you ready for this?…..Michael Cullane.

Patrick:  Michael Cullane???

Leslie:  Michael Cullane?  What about him?

Patrick:  I thought his ass was in jail.

Ed:  Apparently not.  Apparently, he had one of the high-priced Ardizzone lawyers get him out on bail.  So, he’s still roaming the streets.

Patrick:  Shit!!!  He wasn’t the driver was he?

Ed:  No.  He had one of his mob lackeys driving.  But there’s more.  Percy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Patrick:  What???

Ed:  That’s right.  Percy was not the intended victim.  That hit was intended for Alexis.

Patrick:  Jesus Christ!!!  Thanks a lot for keeping me posted, Ed.

Ed:  Not a problem, Pat.

Leslie (snuggles up closer to her husband):  Hun?  What’s wrong?

Patrick:  That hit on Percy.  He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.  That hit was meant for Alexis.

Leslie:  He probably still holds a grudge over her cutting him out of that development deal and for not accepting his offer to sell her his shares in the Crater.

Patrick.  But that was like thirty years ago.

Leslie:  Oh.  Michael can hold onto a grudge.  Believe me.

Patrick:  We’ll need to get with Dex about that later on.  But…..in the meantime. 🙂  (takes Leslie in his arms)

Leslie (in a mock Southern accent):  Why Fiddle Dee Dee.  Admiral Jennings.  I do declare.  🙂  (she and Patrick then start making out)
